TOWN & COUNTRY BASEBALL TOURNAMENT NEWSLETTER
June 2004

On behalf of the Town & Country Youth Baseball League, we would like to thank all of you for your cooperation & participation to help make this tournament the tremendous event that it is! We sincerely appreciate everyone’s involvement and look forward to your continued support in upcoming years.

We wanted to take this opportunity to review some of the results from the 2003 State Tournament, as well some of the changes that took place.

2003 State Tournament Results:

Senior League (11-12 yr. olds)
at Rochester
Champion Runner-up
Greentown Rochester
Junior League (9-10 yr. olds)
at Daleville
Champion Runner-up
Marion Rochester
Minor League (7-8 yr. olds)
at Mentone
Champion Runner-up
Walton Delphi

New in ’03 – Expanded Tourney Formats

In an effort to better balance the brackets & eliminate bye-rounds at both the Semi-State & State levels of the tournament, a total of eight teams will advance to each of those levels instead of six. The four teams advancing from both the District & Semi-State levels will then be seeded, with the winners (#1 seed) playing the #4 seed from the other region, and the #2 seed playing the #3 from the opposite region. We felt this change went extremely well and allowed a couple more teams to extend their seasons.
Also, last year we embarked upon the inaugural Town & Country-sanctioned Minor League (7-8 yr. olds) State Tournament. This tournament proved to be very exciting and we look forward to building it’s future into becoming a tradition-rich mainstay event that is looked forward to each year like the older leagues. We ask that each league take a strong look at participating in this sanctioned event in future years.
Finally, as Nelson & I begin our final season in this capacity next year, we welcome any interest in taking over the reigns of leadership for the Town & Country Baseball League. Please inquire if interested! We look forward to another great tournament! Good Luck!
