Congratulations to Alexandria -- with
championships at both live-arm levels of the Town & Country
State tournament. And to Delphi, who followed-up a
runner-up finish in the 2003 Minor league tourney with it’s
first-ever baseball state championship at any level in ’04.
Looking Ahead . . .
TOURNAMENT HOST SITES
We very much appreciate those who have hosted in the past, but
would also like to encourage others to consider doing so. This
can be accomplished at any level of the tourney by request.
However, we do not want to see the cost of hosting a tourney
as a deterrent to doing so, so we will be looking at ways to
help offset this as a concern – including allowing host sites
to charge admission, if desired. This is a trend at almost
every level of youth sports & we have to be flexible enough to
consider it as an option. We have even lost host sites & teams
to other sanctioning bodies just because they do allow an
admission fee to be charged & some leagues have to consider
all money-making opportunities. Besides, is $2 really going to
make a difference whether a parent or grandparent will be able
to come to the park? |
TOWN & COUNTRY GROWTH
We have been very fortunate to experience growth in both our
league & in the number of teams that participate in our
tournament. Adding the State-sanctioned Minor League
(8-&-under) tournament was a huge success & can become a solid
foundation that can lead to future growth in the upper
divisions. We would like to see this trend continue as we move
forward, targeting communities that are within our
demographics.
WEBSITE IS UP & RUNNING!
Our league has a very significant tournament history, with
champions dating to 1969! Some of this history can be found on
our new website, which is now available at
www.townandcountrybaseball.com. We intend on this becoming
a primary site to help answer basic questions about the
league, our tournaments, rules and a source for league forms
such as sanctioning, tourney entry, etc. However, we would
like to have a person on the Board that can assist with
keeping our website up to date. If you have interest in this,
please let us know!
LEAGUE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We are looking at forming a League Board that can both assist
with the workload that comes with growth, as well as to help
with the upcoming transition as we pass on the leadership of
the league. We want to make the transition as smooth as
possible, as we only want to see continued success moving
forward! |
